Lock on
Tap your subject in the live preview. Helm locks on with Apple Vision and keeps following the same person, even when someone walks between you.
Automatic camera tracking · macOS
Helm is a macOS app that drives a motorized pan‑and‑tilt camera rig. Tap a person in the live preview and the camera turns to keep them in frame while they move around the room.

How it works
The camera itself moves; there’s no digital crop. Tracking runs entirely on your Mac, with no cloud and nothing to wear.
01
Tap your subject in the live preview. Helm locks on with Apple Vision and keeps following the same person, even when someone walks between you.
02
Motors pan and tilt the camera to hold the framing. The rig stays still while your subject is still, and moves smoothly when they do.
03
Cross the stage, work the whiteboard, sit back down. A walking subject gets room to move into, and the frame settles when they stop.
Features
The tracking is tuned against a measured model of the physical rig, then verified on the real thing.
Motion
Pan and tilt are driven together and tuned for steady, deliberate movement. No hunting, no stop‑start.
Framing
Helm frames on the head, not the bounding box, so headroom stays natural as your subject steps closer or farther away.
Anticipation
A walking subject is framed with room to move into. When they stop, the shot recenters smoothly.
Control
Trim the shot from a MIDI controller whenever you like. Helm folds the adjustment into the frame and keeps tracking.
Developer
A developer simulator with a virtual rig and mock serial hardware, so you can tune and test with nothing plugged in.
